Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to read this site and reach us through it, whatever they use to browse. This website aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard United States regulators and courts apply to websites.

Where we stand

This website substantially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Substantially" is doing real work in that sentence. It means every criterion we can test, we have tested and pass. It does not mean the site has been audited by an independent accessibility professional, or tried with every combination of assistive technology in use.

How it was tested

• Automated checks with axe-core 4.13 on every page, at desktop, 390px and 320px widths. The run includes a deliberate failure – an image with no description – to confirm the tooling still reports problems, so that a clean result means a clean page rather than a broken test.
• A keyboard-only pass: every control reached with Tab, operated, and left again, with the focus indicator visible at each step and no point where focus gets stuck.
• Contrast measured against the pixels the browser actually painted, rather than against the colors in our design system. Automated tools decline to judge text over a gradient, and the front page is built on one, so those measurements are taken by sampling the rendered page.
• Manual checks against the criteria tools cannot judge: the contrast of interface boundaries, the text-spacing overrides, resizing to 200%, reflow to 320px, and the accessible name of every control.

What we have done

• Body text and the boundaries of form controls meet the AA contrast ratios.
• Every control is reachable and operable by keyboard, in the order it appears on the page, with a visible focus indicator.
• A skip link jumps past the header to the main content, and the footer sits outside the main region so screen-reader users can find it as a landmark.
• The long tables in our Privacy Policy scroll sideways on a narrow screen, and they take keyboard focus so that scrolling does not require a mouse.
• Every image is either described or marked as decorative.
• Pages reflow to 320px without sideways scrolling, and the Spanish inside our exercises is marked as Spanish so a screen reader pronounces it correctly.
• Scroll-linked motion is switched off when your system asks for reduced motion, and on narrow screens the same sections render as an ordinary vertical stack.

Known limitations

• The waitlist form needs JavaScript. With it turned off, our email address is printed in the footer of every page, and writing to us reaches the same list.
• We have not had an independent audit. Everything above is our own testing, which means our own blind spots are in it.
• We test with automated tools and a keyboard. We have not run the site past a screen-reader user, and that is the gap we would most like to hear about.
